Adding Duplex to the internal construction of a sealed window unit is to segment the unit into individual units for external (Astragal) bars to be applied when fitting. We offer up to 5 spacers both horizontal and vertical. Total width of the Duplex Bar is either 18mm or 25mm. The coordinate 'X' marks the centre of the location of a vertical bar/duplex and 'Y' marks the centre of the location of a horizontal bar/duplex. Our system calculates the position of the bars/duplex based on the overall width or height of the window and divides and then places the specified amount of bars at equal intervals. Try it and see! You can also type in the exact coordinates should you choose to have the bars in different locations such as borders. Please note the colours of the Duplex Bars will match that of the unit's Spacer Bar you have chosen.

We can supply Glass Sealed Units with steps to suit your requirements. 'Stepped Units' are when one pane of the double glazed unit is larger than the other. This creates a step that can be for several purposes. The common use for stepped units are conservatory roof units and skylight units. On Conservatory roofs this is used as a drip for water to flow into guttering and keeping moisture clear of the double glazed seal. Another reason for a step is pictured below where it is used for skylights and allows the upper pane to be placed onto the upstands and again allowing water to drip clear of the seal and used to cover/waterproof the upstands. The website calculates your unit price based on the number of edges that requires a step. Once you have placed the order our customer service team will contact you to discuss your step requirements.

A spacer bar is an essential component of a double-glazed unit, acting as a separator between the panes of glass. It serves several important functions, including maintaining the correct distance between the glass sheets, enhancing the thermal efficiency of the window, and minimizing the risk of condensation by forming a tight seal. Spacer bars are designed to improve the overall performance of the glazing system, contributing to better insulation and energy efficiency.
Double glazing spacer bars play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and energy efficiency of insulated glass units by keeping the glass panes separated and promoting structural stability. There are notable differences between traditional aluminum spacer bars and modern warm edge spacer bars. Aluminum spacer bars, available in silver and gold finishes, provide strength but can lead to increased heat transfer, potentially resulting in condensation and reduced thermal performance. In contrast, warm edge spacer bars, offered in black, white, and grey finishes, are designed with insulation materials that reduce heat loss at the edges of the glass unit, significantly improving energy efficiency and minimizing the risk of condensation. By selecting warm edge spacer bars, homeowners can enhance the overall performance of their double-glazed windows while benefiting from a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
The selection of inner glass options for double-glazed units is critical for optimizing performance, energy efficiency, and aesthetics. Each type of inner glass plays a unique role in determining various attributes such as thermal insulation, light transmission, and sound reduction. Options range from standard clear glass to advanced softcoat and low-iron variants, catering to different preferences and requirements. Softcoat glass offers enhanced thermal performance, while low-iron selections provide superior clarity. Laminated options enhance safety and sound insulation, making them ideal for specific applications.
