Low-E (Low-Emissivity) Soft Coat Glass is a high-performance energy-efficient glazing product designed to improve thermal insulation in homes and buildings. It features an advanced microscopically thin metallic coating applied to the inner surface of the glass during manufacture. This coating reflects heat back into the property while still allowing a high level of natural daylight to pass through.
When incorporated into double or triple glazed units, Low-E soft coat glass helps retain warmth during colder months and reduces heat loss through the glazing — achieving significantly better U-values compared to standard clear glass alone. This makes it a key component in modern energy-rated windows and assists with compliance to current building regulations for thermal performance.
Soft coat Low-E glass maintains a clear, neutral appearance, making it suitable for use in both traditional and contemporary designs. It can be supplied either as standard float glass or toughened safety glass where required in critical locations.
Low-E soft coat glazing is widely recognised as one of the most effective ways to enhance a building’s energy efficiency, reduce heat loss, and help lower heating costs. PLANITHERM® TOTAL+ is an example of this advanced glazing technology.
*Coated Insulated Glass types are only available as Double or Triple Glazed Units.

Planitherm 1.0 is a premium low-emissivity (Low-E) glass designed to significantly improve thermal insulation in modern glazing. It is manufactured on high-quality clear float glass and incorporates a microscopically thin metallic coating that reduces heat loss while maintaining high levels of natural light and a neutral, clear appearance.
The coating is produced using a single-stock process, meaning the same glass can be supplied as standard float glass or processed into toughened safety glass where required for compliance in critical locations. By reflecting internal heat back into the room and helping to limit heat transfer through the glazing, Planitherm 1.0 supports improved energy efficiency, reduced heating demand and enhanced occupant comfort.

COOL-LITE SKN 176 II is a high-performance solar control glass designed to provide exceptional thermal insulation while maintaining a clear, neutral appearance.
Designed to reduce solar heat gain and energy consumption, enhancing indoor comfort while allowing abundant natural light. With around 70% visible light transmission, a low solar factor of 0.37, and a U-value of 1.0 W/m²·K, it delivers both brightness and energy efficiency. It is ideal for commercial and residential applications, including offices, retail spaces, homes, skylights, and atriums, where both light and solar control are essential.
Due to the unique properties of the coating, it is ideally suited to applications requiring a high light transmittance, low g value and excellent neutrality. The 4mm option allows the product to be used in applications such as high end residential / low end commercial applications. This extended functionality allows more design flexibility whilst retaining excellent neutral aesthetics.
The glass must be toughened before assembly and can be combined with other glass types, offering a versatile solution for modern building requirements. By optimizing light transmission and reducing heat gain, COOL-LITE SKN 176 II helps maintain a comfortable indoor environment, lowers energy costs, and supports sustainable, high-performance building design.
SGG COOL-LITE SKN 176 II is available in 6000mm x 3210mm and 3210mm x 2550mm dimensions and in 4, 6, 8 and 10mm thicknesses allowing for increased flexible design capabilities.
